Focus and Scope

J-SH: Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Department of Regional Government Administration, Institut Teknologi dan Bisnis Maritim Balik Diwa. Established in 2026 as an electronic (online) publication, the journal is published twice a year, in June and December.

J-SH focuses on public administration, government administration, public policy, governance, and public management, with particular attention to contemporary issues of government institutions, public services, regional development, and community governance. The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform within the social sciences, particularly for research that examines the relationship between government, public institutions, policies, and society.

The scope of J-SH includes:

  1. Public Administration and Government Administration, including administrative systems, bureaucratic reform, institutional development, government management, and regional government administration;
  2. Public Policy, including policy formulation, implementation, evaluation, public programs, and policy innovation;
  3. Governance and Public Management, including good governance, collaborative governance, digital governance, public sector management, accountability, transparency, and public service management;
  4. Regional and Community Governance, including regional development, village governance, community empowerment, local government, and participatory development; and
  5. Public Service and Government Innovation, including public service innovation, digital transformation, smart governance, administrative innovation, and citizen-oriented government.

Through these interconnected areas, J-SH aims to advance scholarly understanding of government, public administration, governance, public policy, and their interactions with society, particularly in the context of local, regional, and national development.

J-SH publishes original research articles, conceptual papers, literature reviews, and critical review articles. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure scientific quality, originality, and academic integrity. The journal aims to contribute to the development of public administration theory, government practice, public policy, governance, and public services at local, national, and global levels.
