The publication ethics of MARFIG: Journal of Fisheries and Marine Resource Management are based on LIPI Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The journal upholds three fundamental ethical values throughout the publication process:

1. Determine the journal title, research scope, publication period, and accreditation status, when applicable.
2. Establish and organize the membership of the editorial board.
3. Define the relationships and responsibilities among the publisher, editors, reviewers, authors, and other participants through appropriate agreements.
4. Respect and maintain the confidentiality of information relating to researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
5. Implement norms and provisions concerning intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
6. Develop journal policies and communicate them clearly to authors.
7. Establish ethical guidelines for editors and reviewers.
8. Publish the journal regularly according to its stated publication schedule.
9. Ensure the availability of adequate funding to support the continuity of journal publication.
10. Develop appropriate networking and journal dissemination strategies.
11. Prepare and maintain the necessary permits and other legal requirements.

2. Continuously strive to improve the quality of the journal's publications.
3. Implement appropriate processes to ensure the quality of published manuscripts.
4. Promote freedom of academic expression objectively and responsibly.
5. Maintain the integrity of the author's academic record.
6. Provide corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary.
7. Be responsible for the style and presentation of published manuscripts, while the content and statements expressed in the manuscript remain the responsibility of the authors.
8. Actively seek opinions and suggestions from authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial board members to improve the quality of publications.
9. Promote appropriate scholarly assessment of research findings submitted to the journal.
10. Support efforts to reduce research and publication errors by requiring authors, where applicable, to submit an ethical approval or ethical permission form approved by the relevant ethics committee.
11. Contribute to educating researchers about responsible publication ethics.
12. Evaluate the impact of publication policies on authors and reviewers and improve such policies to increase accountability and minimize errors.
13. Remain open to new ideas and perspectives, including those that may differ from personal views.
14. Avoid imposing personal, author, or third-party views that could result in subjective editorial decisions.
15. Encourage authors to make constructive improvements so that manuscripts meet the journal's scholarly standards.

1. Accept review assignments from the editorial board and provide objective recommendations to the editor regarding the suitability of the manuscript for publication.
2. Decline to review manuscripts involving direct or indirect conflicts of interest.
3. Maintain the confidentiality of the author's identity and the content of the manuscript, including comments, suggestions, and recommendations provided during the review process.
4. Provide constructive comments and recommendations that help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
5. Evaluate manuscripts objectively and consistently according to the journal's review standards.
6. Complete reviews within the specified timeframe and assess manuscripts based on relevant scholarly standards, including research methods, ethical considerations, data collection, author permissions where applicable, analysis, and conclusions.

1. Ensure that all individuals listed as authors meet the journal's authorship requirements and have made appropriate contributions to the manuscript.
2. Take collective responsibility for the scholarly content of the article, including its methods, analysis, calculations or measurements, and supporting details.
3. Disclose relevant sources of funding and other forms of financial or material support, whether direct or indirect.
4. Clearly acknowledge and explain the limitations of the research or manuscript.
5. Respond professionally and within the specified timeframe to comments, corrections, and recommendations provided by reviewers and editors.
6. Notify the editor promptly if they wish to withdraw a manuscript from the publication process.
7. Provide a statement confirming that the manuscript is original, has not been previously published by another publisher or in another language, and is not simultaneously under consideration by another publisher or journal.
